I joined Amber Hankins and Tracy Forner on Indy Style to talk simple, flavor-filled appetizers and how grilling is a great unifier that brings people of all creeds together. We also chatted about my time in the Marine Corps, serving under Defense Secretary General James Mattis in Pakistan.
We discussed what it took to write a cookbook—eight months and forty pounds! But the result outweighs the price. Yes, I spent many nights burning the midnight oil and, yep, I wear a larger pants size. I am proud, though, to have written a book that shows grillers at all skill levels that they can make delicious meals on the grill an everyday pleasure. I also show Amber and Tracy how to make one of my favorite recipes from the book, MOINK balls.

In segment two, I chat with Amber about the easiest (and most delicious) appetizers that you can take to your neighborhood cookout. Amber and I make easy jalapeño poppers, one of the most popular dishes from my book. This recipe is a guaranteed hit. I also show Tracy the best recipes in the book for people just starting out on the grill.
